COURSE OBJECTIVE
To provide participants with a theoretical knowledge and practical ability to respond appropriately to a broad range of basic life support in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and associated skills until medical assistance is available.
COURSE CONTENTS
Assess the situation - Physical hazards are identified and minimised according to first aid requirements and established procedures. - Risks to first aider and others are assessed. - Appropriate response is determined to ensure prompt control of situation.
Apply Expired Air Resuscitation (EAR)/CPR - Casualty's vital signs and physical conditions are assessed in accordance with established first aid procedures. - Unconscious non-breathing casualty is recognised. - Resources and equipment are identified and accessed. - Appropriate EAR/CPR first aid techniques are applied as per Australian Resuscitation Guidelines. - Need for emergency services/medical assistance and management priorities are established and acted upon. -
